The Objectives

  • To create a pool of professionals to provide and facilitate quality experiential training imparted via supervision, upskilling, and renewal opportunities to mental health practitioners.
  • To create and execute a robust system of ethical guidelines and code of conduct across all mental health practitioners thus upholding the highest standards of professional ethics by educating and certifying professionals from time to time.
  • To develop and deliver preventive and curative mental health material in different national languages on topics like mental health check-up and first aid, stigmas and to integrate Indian forms of intervention like yoga, pranayama, music, dance and contemporary psychotherapies.
  • To provide timely interventions for vulnerable groups (children, youth, women, senior citizens) and those affected by mental health disorders and disabilities by networking and collaborating with schools, communities, voluntary organisations, townships and government bodies.
  • To provide or facilitate, community-based services and programs for mental health issues such as child and adolescent mental health, working with parents, youth (including technology-related mental health challenges, and suicide prevention), marginalized and vulnerable groups like persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, underprivileged, the elderly, victims of abuse, victims of addictions and domestic violence.
  • To develop and extend the consultancy model to create support groups (online and offline) for rehabilitation programmes for the management of addictions, neuro-developmental conditions and chronic mental problems and disabilities.
  • To create literacy material / information / activities / awareness and action programmes to educate and equip all stakeholders on multiple aspects of mental health and extend it to the larger population through social media specially on mental health days like suicide day, world mental health day, autism day and the likes.
  • To provide cost-effective and affordable actionable interventions like camps, O.P.D’s especially in remote places and for a cross section of society to ensure restoration of mental health
  • To carry out screening and interventions to promote preventive and curative bio-psycho-social interventions to reduce risks and build on coping skills and resilience, and establish supportive environments for mental health.
  • To consult, collaborate and network with government, non-government, private and public sectors and international forums for assessment, intervention, research and publication.

Professional members are M.A / Msc / Mphil / PhD in psychology or qualified from any other mental health professional program – (Holder of master, degree and diploma academic program).

Other Allied Health Professionals, medical and non-medical professionals practising in India.

  • A student of psychology and its branches who are enrolled in any of the approved courses of psychology in an institute/university recognized by the statutory council for the course.
  • Duration of this membership shall automatically get terminated upon completion of the course or becoming ineligible to continue the course.
  • Student should be non professional and enrolled in degree or diploma course.

Any institute of training and practice in mental health.

Any student studying in any other branch (non psychology / mental health).

Professional members are (M.A / Msc / Mphil / PhD psychology and branches of psychology) with minimal experience of three years in the field of mental health.

Professional members are (M.A / Msc / Mphil / PhD psychology and branches of psychology) with minimal experience of five years in the field of mental health.

Each application for membership shall be screened by a sub-committee which shall be called as “Membership Committee” consisting of three members (a) the General Secretary and two other board members of CMMHF. The Membership of each person shall be approved by the board member council upon recommendation of the “Membership Committee”.

Application fee for each class of Membership is mentioned under fees section which shall be revised by the Board members Council from time to time.
